Hoar Frost, Backyard…

By about this time of year I’m usually complaining that I’m tired of winter, and I’m ready for spring.  And while this year is no different, winter can bring some interesting photographic opportunities.  This is a painting of my backyard a couple of days after our last snow storm.  (Not to be confused with the one we are having currently…)  The air was cold and damp, thus forming ‘hoar frost’ on the tops of the trees.  It’s a pretty rare event, but my camera and I were there to get some shots.  I painted this using a lot of brushes, including the Den’s funky chunky and spatter brush, and my sponge, chalk and smeary oil variants in painter 11
