Backyard Maple

This painting was done a little differently than my usual landscape process.  Instead of using my sculpting chalk on the leaves and other foliage, I used a sponge that was designed from a tutorial by painter master John Derry.  The sponges’ original design was to paint clouds in a scene.  My goal here was a softer look, and perhaps a little more abstract.  I tried to only give you enough detail in the leaves, and let your imagination fill in the blanks.  The angle of the original photo was achieved by standing near the creek, as there is a large drop off from the edge of our yard.
