Rhododendron Garden, Holden Arboretum

I’ve been experimenting with different ways to do landscape paintings, but I still prefer my usual “secret family recipe” method the best.  That uses the funky chunky and my sculpting chalk brushes in layers, along with an oil brush for details.  (In this case, the round camelhair…)  The hard part of this was to render the blossoms on the trees in the background, and to give them enough detail to be a secondary focal point.
